The Universe Podcast 2: with Matt Thompson, Talent Programme Manager for Cricket Wales

In the second of my amiable meanderings through what-might-turn-out-to-be the Definitive List of Movers & Shakers in Welsh Cricket, I chat to Matt Thompson, Talent Programme Manager for Cricket Wales.

Matt is a brilliant 26 year-old cricketer/lecturer/coach, with a ridiculous c.v.

Despite this, I kinda liked him. We talked the new job through – criminally unedited – plus all kinds of coach-feely other stuff.

Have a listen.

  1. A really interesting chat. Obviously I hadn’t listened to it before I left my comment on the previous post.

Matt was a little modest about his cricket. He’s been a very important figure for Devon for a long time and until his record was beaten by Tom Lammonby (a name worth remembering) a few weeks ago, he was the youngest player to make a Minor Counties Championship hundred for Devon (when he was 18). In the side’s run to the final of the 50 over competition this season his keeping has been brilliant.

Definitely going places, I’d say, and I hope you really benefit from his input.
